Welcome to Pworthy Archives - a treasure chest of articles and videos dedicated to Blacks in the High Arts and the rock stars that helped shape the New Atlanta Renaissance. I decided to re-publish much of this work because, honestly, I missed it. After a job loss, followed by lots of meditation, exercise, and prayer this is where G-d led me. I scoured my files for the old articles and stumbled across so many that I hadn’t even published. After days of perusing photos and interviews, organizing, and re-organizing a funny thing happened….I became inspired again.

And then I found several articles I wrote with interviews of Janelle Monáe. I forgot how in awe I was of her soulfulness and the way she danced. Janelle Monáe was and still is the definition of dope. A musical genius she embodied the pinnacle of Blackness revolutionizing the old by conjuring up the spirits of James Brown and Huey Newton igniting a spark in all of us. Needless to stay I started playing songs that lit a fire under me; Tightrope, Violet Stars Happy Hunting, and Give 'Em What You Love ft. Prince are just a few. I danced and danced and danced and sang at the top of my lungs. I turnt up to The ArchAndroid, Metropolis and Electric Lady like those albums had dropped at midnight. Janelle Monáe become the soundtrack for my rebirth and for the launch of Pworthy Archives - it was the melody of creation accompanied by a full orchestra. Even with her amazing catalogue, Janelle Monáe continues to evolve. Adding actress to her resume she no longer dresses in black and white, and fully embraces color. Her fluidity seamlessly gliding from a-sexual to pan sexual screams I'm not done yet. And as I undergo my own metamorphosis I scream out into the void "I'm not done yet either!"
I circled back around and rekindled my love affair with fashion repurposing articles like the one I wrote about designer Brian Reyes whose 2010 collection was influenced by forces of nature that change our world. Everything I found seemed to align considering the current state of affairs. I rediscovered singer/songwriter Santigold, and found a whole new respect for the President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama. These people represented an excellence that spilled out onto the streets transcending the walls of age old institutions. It was an excellence that started with the individual, but always came back to a common goal. It was a call to find your gift – whatever that may be - and use that thing to contribute to a cause greater than yourself.
The weirdos, artists, painters, singers, designers, dancers and poets who created other worlds through their craft ushered us into a new timeline. I can only describe it as a rebellion, though it shouldn't have been. The artists and talent on the pages of pworthy.com lived authentically and wanted all of us to enjoy doing so as well. Their courage inspired so many people and continues to inspire me. So I’m re-publishing and publishing as much content as I can - with intentionality. This project is taking me back to Wondaland. I hope you enjoy the ride.
Sincerely,
