Happenings: March 4th-March 12th

The UN Headquarters in NYC recently launched the "The Light Within" an immersive exhibition exploring alternative roles of women in society through digital art. Using imagery and poetry created by women, the mission of the project is to  empower women within technology. The installation runs through April 11, 2025. If you're looking to learn more about Black music in the Diaspora the Barbican Music Library  in London is the place for you. The exhibit "Black Sound London' celebrates 100 years of Black Music in London. The exhibition explores various genres that were created by  Black people, from jungle and grime, to lovers' rock and jazz. The exhibition runs through August 31, 2025. The Soul Healing Picnic  returns to Atlanta April 5 & 6th at the Westside Park. Join others to partake in a full day of  classic R&B, soul food, games, and explore health & wellness vendors. For those in North Carolina, Charlotte Shout ushers in spring with games, art, and immersive experiences taking place throughout the city. Starting on April 3rd the events begin with a preview from 7pm-8:30pm featuring a talk with Noelle Russell, Chief AI Officer at the AI Institute. The Field Museum in Chicago might just have topped all summer exhibitions with Africa Fashion. The immersive exhibition which runs through June 29, 2025. features a mix of haute couture and ready to wear pieces from more than 20 artists explores the cultural significance of African fashion. While at the Field Museum check out Connecting Threads, an exhibition exploring Chicago's African fashion scene highlighting African designers who live and work in The Chi. Tickets for The Premier League Summer Series taking place in Chicago, New Jersey, and Atlanta are now on sale. The matches will bring together Premier League fans from all over the the U.S to watch four clubs and six matches at a few of the best soccer venues Stateside. If you're visiting the left coast head to LACMA for Imaging Black Diasporas: 21st century Art and
Poetics. The show features works by 60 artists from across Africa, Europe, and the United States. Themes range from the Trans Atlantic slave trade to migration and includes artists such as Mark Bradford, Deana Lawson, Nick Cave,  Patrisse Cullors and Lorna Simpson just to name a few.
