Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny made history at Levi’s® Stadium in Santa Clara, California with a monumental Super Bowl LX halftime performance celebrating his native land. Born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, the three time Grammy winner won Album of The Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards less than a month ago. Following the prestigious wins he decided to give a history lesson to the 128.1 million viewers who tuned in to the show. The halftime show was the second most viewed Super Bowl Halftime Show just under Kendrick Lamar in 2025.

Surrounded by props of sugarcane, Bad Bunny reminded everyone of how brutal slave labor in The Caribbean contributed to The Spanish and US empires. Sparking powerlines and utility poles were erected over the stage to protest Puerto Rico's unstable power grid. The US territory has experienced consistent power failures since Hurricane Maria, and the scene was made prominent during his performance of "El Apagón" or "The Blackout."
The Spanish language performance ignited online dialogue as ICE raids and deportations are targeting Spanish speaking immigrants during President Donald Trump's second term. In 2017 President Trump visited the island following Hurricane Maria and threw paper towels at Puerto Rican officials suggesting they clean up the devastation with the rolls being pelted at them. Despite colonial exploitation and government negligence, Puerto Ricans remain resilient using their unique culture shaped by African and Indigenous traditions to rise.
In the moment, Bad Bunny wore a custom outfit by Zara and debuted adidas para Bad Bunny - a white colorway of BadBo 1.0, his first signature shoe with adidas, marking the first-ever global release of the BadBo silhouette. The debut represents a new chapter in the ongoing partnership between adidas Originals and Bad Bunny. Rooted in creative freedom and self-expression, the “I’m Everything” campaign reflects Bad Bunny’s belief that identity transcends a single definition. Drawing inspiration from his personal journey, "I'm Everything" invites audiences to imagine without limits and choose who to be once, or as many times as it takes.
The new adidas BadBo silhouette represents those who move forward without a defined path and who understand that there are no final destinations, only parts of the same journey. Born from Bad Bunny’s own experience of refusing to be boxed in, BadBo reflects the freedom to become everything he once imagined possible.
