On May 4th the world will be watching as celebrities, artists and philanthropists pull up to the 2026 Met Gala in style. This year’s gala marks the opening of the spring exhibition “Costume Art” - the first exhibition to be installed in the new 12,000 -square-foot Condé M. Nast Galleries. The theme for the 2026 Met Gala is "Fashion as Art" with guests of the gala instructed to use their bodies as a living canvas to explore the relationship between fine art and fashion. 

Co-Chairs for the event are Beyonce, Venus Williams, Nicole Kidman, and Anna Wintour. The committee co-chairs are Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz along with Amy Sherald, Angela Bassett, Doja Cat, Teyana Taylor, Sam Smith, Chloe Malle, Misty Copeland Lena Dunham and more. Lead sponsors of the gala and exhibition are Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez who  will serve as honorary chairs. 

The Met Gala 2026 follows the 2025 Met Gala that is considered the most successful Met Gala in the 77-year history of the fundraiser. The theme of the gala was "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” focusing on Black dandyism and raised $31 million, the largest haul since the Met Gala was established in 1948.

Just before the Met Gala 2026, the world premiere of the Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters Friday, May 1st.  The film is the sequel to the Devil Wears Prada based on the New York Times Bestseller by the same name. The story follows Andrea “Andy” Sachs played by Anne Hathaway during her tumultuous internship at Runway - a fashion magazine under the leadership of Miranda Priestly, a character based on former Vogue Editor – in 
– Chief Anna Wintour played by Meryl Streep. Promotion for the film has included a Vogue cover featuring Meryl Streep as Priestly and Anna Wintour sitting side by side. 

The 2026 Met Gala Red Carpet will be live streamed on May 4th at 6pm on Vogue.com and Youtube.

The Atlanta Film Festival is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with Sound + Vision at The Goat Farm on April 28 from 6 -11pm. The immersive event will feature video installations by filmmaker and installation artist Micah Stansell, a live music stage presented by BMI, a VR gallery, ATLFF official selection music videos, and a sustainable fashion show from Atlanta Sustainable Fashion Week. . The exhibition includes pieces by Christian Dior and Johnathon Anderson with a story that unfolds over seven different sections. Each theme highlights Dior’s heritage weaving together a narrative focusing on the imagination and craftsmanship that made the House of Dior the iconic house it is today. On Friday, May 1st join The Capitol Hill Boys Club Arts Foundation for the kick-off of Murals Fest. The 18-day festival will bring more than 100 artists to Washington, DC to create over 100 murals in Anacostia, Pennsylvania Avenue East, Minnesota Avenue, and Deanwood. The festival aims to transform the neighborhood through creativity and pride. There will also be public art tours artis,t talks, youth workshops. community art activities, pop-up events, performances and more. The V&A East in London just dropped a banger with its inaugural exhibition “The Music is Black: A British Story.” The exhibition follows the timeline of Black British music and how its shaped British culture for 125 years. Including genres such as lovers rock, jungle, garage and grime, the story unfolds through an audio-visual experience using art and archives. During the May Bank Holiday from May -2 -May 4 from 11am -4pm, Crayola is launching Crayola World of Creativity. The free immersive experience celebrates color, imagination and creative expression.  Designed for families to engage with the interactive installations and creative activities, it’s been described as highly Instagram worthy that makes for stunning content. If you’re looking for more free events the family can enjoy than look no further than Rockefeller Center in NYC. Van Cleef & Arpels transformed the plaza into a spring garden with free installations and activities. The company known for its one-of-a-kind watches and jewelry is bringing their world of wonder to Rockefeller Center with dance performances, children’s story book readings, poetry readings, and live paintings. Continue the whimsy on Saturday, May 2- Sunday, May 3 at the 21st annual Atlantic Coast Kite Festival at Virginia Beach. The festival brings together kit lovers to the Oceanfront for a giant show kites, kite contests, kite making demonstrations, vendors and more. The event is free and open to all ages.
